Meet part of the A Better Way to Farm team. Karen is the social media manager as well as serving on the client care team. Learn more about her below!
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up on the family farm in Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri with 3 siblings. Since I was a child I knew I wanted to stay in the area and buy a farm of my own and that dream became a reality this August when my fiance and I signed on a homestead in Vernon Township. My favorite things to do are spend time with family, check cows, eat tacos, and watch Cardinals baseball.
Q: What are your earliest memories with agriculture?
Watering cows with my grandpa. He never had automatic waterers so it was a daily treat to walk the pastures and set on the fence as the tanks filled.
Q: Why is agriculture important to you?
Agriculture has been a way of life for 14 generations in my family. It is something that is in my blood and I just feel like I am called to continue the legacy my family started years ago. The farming community has the best values, work ethic, and the strongest faith there is. Agriculture feeds and fuels the world and is the backbone of America.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being on the A Better Way to Farm team?
Family farming and legacy has been a strong passion of mine since 2013. I enjoy serving multi-generation farms hearing their stories and helping them to find where they can make extra profit to keep their farming operation strong. I am honored to be a part of the team and it is a true pleasure to work with farmers from Wyoming to Georgia and everywhere in between.
